This will be the 14th destination in the United States that the airline will serve from it’s mega hub.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

Turkish Airlines launched the flights between Istanbul (IST) and Denver (DEN) on June 11, just a few days a go.

It is understood that the flights will operate on a thrice-weekly basis, with this increasing to four weekly on July 9.

Below is the scheduling for the new flights:

  • TK201 – DEP IST 1355 ARR DEN 1740
  • TK202 – DEP DEN 1935 ARR DEN 1625+1

To celebrate the use of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, Turkish Airlines has a special fare of $787 USD for travel dates between June 11 and July 20, 2024.

The airline said that the new Istanbul-Denver flights will do the following:

“[This will contribute] to the tourism and trade volumes between the two countries by transporting thousands of passengers annually on the Istanbul-Denver route.”

As well as this new destination, Turkish Airlines also operates flights to the following destinations in the U.S:

  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Chicago
  • Dallas
  • Denver
  • Detroit
  • Houston
  • Los Angeles
  • Miami
  • Newark
  • New York JFK
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Washington D.C.

These new flights between Istanbul and Denver will add to the already eclectic mix of destinations that the airline operates.

Bolat: A Strong Relationship Between Turkey & The U.S…

Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines, Prof. Ahmet Bolat celebrated the new flights:

“We are delighted to add a new route to our expanding flight network.”

“We began our operations to the Americas on August 26, 1988, with flights to New York via Brussels, and 6 years later, on July 16, 1994, we began direct flights to New York.”

“Today, we are proud to fly directly to 14 destinations in the United States, including Denver.”

“This new route will offer our passengers the opportunity to discover the historical and cultural richness of Istanbul and our country.”

What remains clear within this is that the relationship Turkish Airlines has with the U.S is quite significant.

Furthermore, with 14 destinations served from it’s mega-hub, it shows exactly how important of a market the region is.

It is also representative of the growth that is taking place at the airline as a whole.

Back in April, they signed an agreement with CDB Aviation for one more Airbus A330-200 and six new Boeing 737 MAX 8s.

It is exactly the reason why they reported strong passenger numbers back in May, where they handled 7.2m passengers.

Finally, on the revenue front, they are expanding their global presence where they can.

This has been seen recently through the codesharing agreement signed with KM Malta Airlines.

So, within this, there have been plenty of opportunities that the airline has been wanting to exploit.

Overall…

In conclusion, the new flights between Istanbul and Denver marks another step in their expansion plans.

From growing it’s passenger numbers by 10.1% in 2023, to expanding with new aircraft orders, the carrier continues to rise at a meteoric rate.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on what other plans they have for expansion.

What remains clear at the moment is that they are not backing down from growth plans despite supply chain issues.

They are an operator that is looking to adapt as much as possible to achieve their goals in destination count by the end of the decade.

Overall, the future is very bright for Turkish Airlines through it’s utilization of operations and it’s hub in Istanbul.
