June 2024 marks a high point for TAP Air Portugal and its US flights. The airline celebrates the fifth anniversary of its transatlantic expansion to Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.

This strategic move in 2019 doubled their US destinations, all conveniently linked through their Lisbon hub.

2019 Transatlantic Inaugurations

The party started on June 1st, 2019, with the inaugural flight to Chicago departing Lisbon. Hot on its heels, San Francisco joined the network on June 10th

This took travelers to the famed Golden Gate City in under 12 hours on TAP’s Airbus A330neo widebody aircraft.

Finally, on June 16th, Washington D.C. was added, solidifying a vital link between the US capital and Lisbon.

To commemorate this achievement, TAP is hosting a unique “runway show” at San Francisco’s Aviation Museum.

This immersive event will showcase the airline’s rich history through a captivating display of cabin crew uniforms spanning their impressive 77-year journey.

Visitors can take a nostalgic trip through time, witnessing the evolution of TAP’s style and service.

Connecting Portugal and the US

“We’re incredibly proud to celebrate five years of serving these key US destinations,” exclaims Ricardo Dinis, TAP Air Portugal Country Manager for the UK, Ireland, and Nordics.

“This milestone underscores our unwavering commitment to connecting Portugal with the world and bringing the world to Portugal.”

“Our strategically located Lisbon hub streamlines transatlantic travel, and the popularity of these routes speaks volumes about their success.”

Dinis elaborates on their future plans, “We’re brimming with excitement to welcome even more passengers on board.”

“From Lisbon, TAP offers five weekly flights to Chicago, daily flights to San Francisco, and a robust double-daily service to Washington D.C.”

TAP Air Portugal: Wider Americas Network

But TAP’s North American reach extends far beyond these highlighted routes. Passengers can embark on journeys to Boston, Miami, Montreal, New York JFK, and Toronto, all conveniently accessible from Lisbon.

Additionally, TAP bridges the gap between both Lisbon and Porto with Newark, offering a wider range of options for travelers.

TAP takes immense pride in its unparalleled connectivity between Europe and Brazil.

They boast direct flights to an impressive 11 Brazilian cities, with nine destinations not served by any other European carrier. This commitment to South America makes TAP a truly global airline.

For British travelers seeking cost-effective transatlantic fares, TAP offers a compelling solution.

To further enhance the value proposition, TAP’s award-winning Stopover Program allows passengers to experience the vibrant energy of Lisbon or the historic charm of Porto at no additional cost.

This program creates a delightful opportunity to break up long journeys and explore Portugal’s hidden gems.

Environmental responsibility is a core value for TAP. They boast one of Europe’s youngest fleets, featuring a mix of Airbus short-haul and long-haul aircraft.

From the cutting-edge A330neo to the efficient single-aisle A321LR, TAP prioritizes a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience.

These state-of-the-art airplanes contribute to a greener future with a significant 20% reduction in fuel burn and a remarkable 50% noise reduction compared to previous generation models.

TAP Air Portugal’s five-year anniversary of US expansion signifies a commitment to fostering connections across the Atlantic.

Their focus on affordability, environmental responsibility, and cultural immersion makes TAP a compelling choice for travelers seeking a seamless and enriching journey.
