A Southwest Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Chicago Midway returned to its origin airport following burst tires after takeoff in the last hour.

According to RadarBox.com data, Southwest flight WN1209 departed Las Vegas at 0752 local time and, after its departure, proceeded to remain in a hold for nearly an hour after it turned back.
N408WN was the Boeing 737-700 operating the flight, with its age coming in at 21 years old at the time of writing.
The aircraft then landed safely back at its origin airport.
At this stage, it is unclear what caused the tires to burst on the Southwest flight, but this will no doubt be handed over to investigators to handle the root cause of this.
Within this, it is also unclear when N408WN will be deemed airworthy again, as new tires will be needed, as well as there is a need to check for damages to maintenance staff.
It could be some time before it is back in the air again, but we will continue to monitor this aircraft in the coming hours and days ahead.
