Spirit Airlines continues to rocket ahead with growth, as the carrier has been able to operate more flights over the course of 2023 so far.
Using data from RadarBox.com, we can see that the carrier has indeed surpassed pre-COVID levels by a very healthy margin.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Spirit Airlines’ Impressive Numbers…

From May 30-June 6, Spirit Airlines operated 823 flights, which is an increase of 15.75% compared to the same period last year.
This is 178 movements higher than the same period in 2019, which highlights the significant growth the carrier has had since 2022 as well.
Below is the last four weeks’ worth of data surrounding the carrier:
Date | 2019 Numbers | 2022 Numbers | 2023 Numbers | Percentage Difference (2023 vs. 2022) |
May 2-9 | 635 movements | 700 movements | 844 movements | +20.57% |
May 9-16 | 638 movements | 708 movements | 834 movements | +17.80% |
May 16-23 | 645 movements | 718 movements | 835 movements | +16.30% |
May 23-30 | 648 movements | 706 movements | 836 movements | +18.41% |
What we can see from the data is that Spirit Airlines has been able to consistently grow at a steady rate, and is expected to rise even more with the Summer 2023 season now peaking.
The Carrier Continues to Expand…

Spirit Airlines has had a strong 2023 so far, with AviationSource previously reporting that they are not far away at all from achieving 1,000 weekly movements.
In terms of the efforts being made this year to achieve that, the carrier took delivery of its 200th aircraft from Airbus and added flights to the Boston summer network.
Then, by May, it was revealed that an exciting chapter in its 20+ year history in Puerto Rico was about to be made through the addition of more flights from the region.
What remains clear is that Spirit Airlines is making waves, and with the upcoming JetBlue merger still posing challenges, this is not stopping itself from future growth.
