The first London Stansted-Amman flights with Royal Jordanian launched on March 3.

These services will operate on a four times per week basis, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays & Sundays.

Aviation Director of the airport, Simon Gorrighan had this to say on the milestone:

“We are delighted to add another exciting destination to London Stansted’s network, giving our passengers even more choice with a world-class airline.”

“The route will give tourists the opportunity to visit this wonderful country and see the golden triangle, which includes the Wadi Rum desert, Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world, and Aqaba, a popular diving site on the Red Sea.”

Adding to this was Royal Jordanian’s Chief Commercial Officer, Karim Makhlouf:

“Our new route to London Stansted will make it easier than ever for tourists from the UK to discover Jordan’s incredible wonders.”

“Promoting and driving tourism to the Kingdom is a key focus of our new corporate strategy—as is our emphasis on further developing Amman as the primary gateway to the Levant by offering improved connectivity to our broader network.”

London Stansted isn’t the final point of further expansion into the UK for Royal Jordanian, however.

On March 6, flights from Amman-Manchester will commence on a thrice-weekly basis.

This is more good news for Manchester Airport as their portfolio of Middle East carriers continues to grow steadily.

  • Emirates
  • Gulf Air
  • Etihad Airways
  • Qatar Airways
  • Oman Air
  • Saudia
  • Kuwait Airways

These airlines serve Manchester Airport directly to the likes of Dubai, Manama, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Kuwait City, Jeddah, Muscat as well as providing onward indirect connections from their respective bases.

In conclusion, these new flights from Amman is strong news for London Stansted, as international growth continues.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how well the route performs, as well as whether there is scope to expand further.

For example, on the Manchester route, Royal Jordanian are believed to be operating some flights with larger aircraft.

Either way, let’s see how strong London Stansted’s footprint continues in 2024, with Amman being a strong feature of that.
