Global Airlines, the newest start-up in the world of long-haul airlines, has announced the appointment of Liam McKay as its International Corporate Affairs Director.
Liam brings with him a decade of experience from his role as the Director of Corporate Affairs at London City Airport (LCY), a central London hub.
During his tenure at LCY, he played a crucial role in securing permission for a significant £500 million development program in 2016, achieving record-breaking passenger numbers in 2019, and navigating the airport through the challenging times of the COVID-19 crisis.
Notably, Liam also led the development of LCY’s revamped ESG agenda, including its 2030 Roadmap to Net Zero Emissions.
Now, in his new position at Global Airlines, he will be responsible for spearheading the communications and corporate affairs team, bringing the captivating Global story to life in key markets, media, and government relations.
Additionally, he will play a pivotal role in shaping the airline’s approach to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) matters, including sustainability policies.

Liam will collaborate closely with Global’s CEO and CCO in developing and enhancing the passenger journey and onboard experience.

Global Airlines at Routes World in Istanbul
As Global Airlines prepares for its future, the company has exciting plans to participate in Routes World in Istanbul this October. This event offers a perfect platform for Global to connect with prospective airport and operational partners, further solidifying its position in the long-haul airline industry.
The UK start-up airline recently announced that it had entered into an agreement to acquire a further three A380s. With the purchase of these aircraft, the airline’s fleet development reaches a new milestone with its four Airbus A380s now lined up for the proposed start of operations in Spring 2024.
