AirAsia X (AAX) has announced the return of direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Changsha, China. This move strengthens AAX’s presence in the Chinese market, following their recent inaugural flight to Xi’an.

Starting July 5th, 2024, travelers can fly directly to Changsha, the capital of Hunan Province, with four convenient weekly flights.

Changsha boasts a rich history and cultural significance, being one of China’s first national cities.

Changsha: Major Tourism Drawcard

A major draw for tourists is the world-famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wu Ling Yuan (Zhangjiajie). The site was the original inspiration behind the blockbuster movie Avatar.

AAX anticipates strong demand for this route and may expand services based on future needs.

Changsha itself holds numerous accolades, including “China Top Tourist City,” “World Capital of Media Arts,” and “Culture City of East Asia.”

This exciting addition brings AAX’s China network to six destinations, complementing AirAsia Malaysia’s (AK) impressive network of 12 cities within Greater China.

AAX Presence in Fast Growing Region

“China has consistently been a key market for us, and it remains one of our fastest-growing regions,” said AirAsia X CEO Benyamin Ismail.

“By resuming flights to Changsha, we’re solidifying our presence in this vast market, where we’ve held the position of the largest foreign low-cost carrier for some time.”

“In 2019 alone, we welcomed over 140,000 passengers on the Kuala Lumpur-Changsha route, highlighting the strong demand for this service.”

“With pent-up demand at an all-time high, we’re committed to supporting the industry’s recovery and achieving the government’s goal of 27 million international tourist arrivals this year.”

“Our network expansion not only maintains AirAsia Group’s dominance as the largest foreign value carrier by capacity, but also allows AAX to fulfill its mission of making air travel accessible and affordable for everyone.”

Introductory Fares

To celebrate this milestone, AAX is offering special introductory fares starting from RM388 (all-in) one way! This fantastic deal allows you to discover the captivating city of Changsha, with its scenic riverfront and charming streets.

Flights are available for booking now until April 21st, 2024, for travel dates between July 5th and October 26th, 2024. Book your trip on the carrier’s website or the AirAsia MOVE app (formerly known as the airasia Superapp).

Great news for Malaysian travelers! Until November 30th, 2024, Malaysians can enjoy visa-free entry to China for tourist visits lasting up to 15 days.
