LA8071 is diverting into Madrid.

LONDON – A LATAM Boeing 777-300ER is currently in a holding pattern to the north of Madrid and doesn’t seem to be continuing to Sao Paulo from Frankfurt.

LA8071 is diverting into Madrid.

At the time of writing, the aircraft has just exited the hold and is at 19,000 feet.

UPDATE #1 @ 2220 UK time – LA8071 seems to be heading in the direction of Madrid at this present time and is still at 19,000 feet.

UPDATE #2 @ 2222 UK time – LA8071 is being operated by PT-MUI, one of LATAM Airlines’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

LA8071 is diverting into Madrid.

UPDATE #3 @ 2229 UK time – LATAM Airlines Flight 8071 is edging closer to the Madrid area, still at FL190.

UPDATE #4 @ 2230 UK time – LA8071 begins its descent into Madrid.

UPDATE #5 @ 2236 UK time – LA8071 is passing FL140. Still no reason into the cause of the diversion at this time.

UPDATE #6 @ 2238 UK time – LA8071 is inching closer to the base leg into Madrid, passing 11,000 feet.

LA8071 is diverting into Madrid.

UPDATE #7 @ 2247 UK time – LA8071 is now on final approach into Madrid Barajas. Still awaiting the cause of the diversion.

UPDATE #8 @ 2250 UK time – LA8071 has safely touched down in Madrid Barajas. AviationSource will approach LATAM for a comment on the cause of the diversion.
