A KLM flight operating from Amsterdam to Vancouver made an unscheduled diversion to Reykjavik on Sunday, 19 June 2024.
KLM flight KL681 was en route from Amsterdam Schiphol airport (AMS) bound for Vancouver International Airport when it made the off-track diversion.

The aircraft was approaching the east coast of Iceland in cruising flight when flight crew initiated the diversion to Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
The nature of the issue prompting the unscheduled diversion is not yet known. The flight did not declare a formal emergency and continued to the diversion airport under normal operating procedures.
Flight Continuation to Vancouver
Having landed at Reykjavik Keflavík International Airport, the flight subsequently departed for Vancouver approximately two hours later.
The aircraft subsequently landed at the destination of Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

Flight data shows that KLM flight KL681 had departed Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) at 1553 local time on 9 June.
The aircraft are then set course normally, climbing to FL320 (32,000 feet) for the long haul transatlantic service to Vancouver, Canada.
The diversion was then initiated from the cruise, and the letdown and approach procedure was conducted to Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
The aircraft conducting the KL681 service to Vancouver was a Boeing 777-300ER, registered PH-BVC.
This is a 15.1 year old wide-body aircraft belonging to the carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. It has been in operational service with the national carrier since its initial delivery in May 2009.
