On March 29, 2023 in Colombus Ohio, Honda Aircraft Company participated in the Sustainable Aviation Forum. The forum championed the usage of green technology with the theme of: “Transitioning to Low-carbon Aviation,” where Honda Aircraft Company successfully gave insights and its findings on the topic.

Honda Jet’s design language

The Panel discussions are very technical and focused on the design of the Honda Jet and how it favors lower carbon usage.

In the panel discussion of:  “Cleaner, Quieter, and More Reliable: When Can We Have Low-Carbon Aviation?”, Honda Jet was represented by its Technical Director, Kui Ou, Ph.D. explained how the aircraft manufacturer is investing great effort to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

He presented the public with its technological innovations to curb emissions, by achieving phenomenal fuel efficiency.

There are a couple of technological and unique designs synonymous with the Honda Jet to increase efficiency, including the iconic  Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration, Natural Laminar Flow (NLF) nose and wing, and composite fuselage.

Furthermore, the Technical Director also satiated Honda Aircraft Company’s embarking on more complicated research and development (R&D) to further cut carbon emissions.

Honda Jet is known for its iconic designs, with technological advances and efficiency at the core of its design language, inevitably making the aircraft one of the leading brands in the industry to lead the reduction of emissions.

Furthermore, the newer variant of the HondaJet Elite II consumes less fuel than its predecessor, which saves nearly 8,000 gallons of fuel, which translates to a reduction of  172,000 pounds of CO2 emissions per annum.

This makes Honda Jet one of the most efficient jets in its category. This design language in mind makes carbon reduction a ‘breeze’ for Honda Jet, which in the meantime, also never stops investing in technologies and capabilities allowing the machine to fly further with lower environmental impact.

Kui Ou stated: “Honda Aircraft Company is dedicated to reducing carbon emissions as an integral aspect of our mission to enhance people’s lives through the advancement of mobility,”

He furthered: We are excited to collaborate with the aviation industry to develop innovative solutions for low-carbon aviation.”

The Forum

The Sustainable Aviation Forum is sponsored by Honda itself, and it is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility ethos. The aircraft manufacturer also supports the Ohio State University with a contribution to its Sustainable Aviation Initiative.

The aircraft company is more than committed to reducing carbon emissions and is chipping in in the fields of sustainable aviation and will continue to work towards a commonly set goal.
