Via their released information from this week, Airbus delivered a grand total of 63 aircraft in May 2023, as production continues to ramp up.
This means that for 2023 so far, the European planemaker has delivered 244 aircraft to 70 different customers around the world.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
Airbus Delivers 63, Receives Orders for 17…

With Airbus delivering 63 aircraft and receiving orders for 17, this is what the backlog is looking like at the moment:
Single-Aisle | A300/A310 | A330 | A340 | A350 | A380 | TOTAL | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total Orders | 17659 | 816 | 1775 | 377 | 967 | 251 | 21845 |
Total Deliveries | 11156 | 816 | 1571 | 377 | 535 | 251 | 14706 |
Backlog | 7139 |
What we can see from this is that the backlog continues to remain very healthy for the European planemaker.
Looking ahead to the Paris Air Show in over a week’s time, Airbus will be wanting to acquire as many orders as possible to strengthen that backlog even further.
However, with there being limits on delivery slots, we may not see as many orders from the air show, but all will be revealed in due course.
One potential rumor that could add to the backlog with Airbus is via IndiGo, who are looking at ordering up to 500 aircraft from the European planemaker.
This order is expected to be for the A320 family variant. If and when the deal is finalized this will be the single largest order in history, overtaking the mega order placed by Air India.
Air India’s order is a combination of both narrowbody and widebody aircraft variants, and it is split between both the major manufacturers – Airbus and Boeing.
On the other hand, the potential order in the offing from IndiGo will be for the narrowbody A320 aircraft only with the complete order going solely to Airbus.
What remains clear is that everything will be all to play for at the Paris Air Show.
