Earlier this month, a Wizz Air flight between Amman and London Luton diverted to Brindisi due to the delivery of a baby onboard.

A doctor was on hand to provide support during the labour in a very wholesome story.

W95170 – Amman to London: Brindisi Diversion…


Earlier this month, a Wizz Air flight between Amman and London Luton diverted to Brindisi due to the delivery of a baby onboard.

Wizz Air flight W95170 is a routine scheduled flight between Amman and London Luton.

The affected rotation, which resulted in the delivery of a baby, was operated by G-WUKW.

As per data from Planespotters.net, G-WUKW is a 1.8 year old Airbus A321neo that was delivered in June 2022.

The aircraft was transferred over to Wizz Air UK after February 2023.

Of the A321neo variant, the UK subsidiary has 17 of them, of which all but one are in active service.

Also, they host an average fleet age of 1.3 years on the particular aircraft type.

W95170 departed Amman at 2303 local time on March 9 and proceeded north-westerly to London Luton.

Furthermore, upon reaching Italian airspace is when the female passenger went into labour, forcing a diversion to Brindisi.

The aircraft landed safely into Brindisi not long after the decision to divert was made.

A tweet was released by Dr. Ali Nassr Abdullah who assisted in the delivery of the baby onboard the Wizz Air flight that diverted to Brindisi.

After the arrival into the Italian airport, the aircraft that started in Amman, continued onwards to London Luton the next day.

Furthermore, it is understood that the mother and child are doing well following the delivery.

In-all, a very wholesome end to what would have been a scary situation for the mother giving birth in an aircraft.

Events like this happen in-flight quite a lot, and the professionalism of those onboard Wizz Air flight W95170 is testament to that.

Crew are trained for any instance that could arise onboard, and the correct procedures were followed.
