On Tuesday, 7 May 2024, a United Airlines flight arriving at YEG Edmonton International Airport encountered a minor mishap during taxiing.

In taxying clear of the active runway, a rear maingear wheel went off the paved manoeuvring area and became stuck in mud.

Local news reports attributed the incident to the wet conditions following rainfall in the Edmonton area.

The United Airlines landing incident was confirmed by an airport spokesperson. “Around 2:20 p.m., United Airlines flight 2308 from Denver to Edmonton was “disabled when its back wheel became stuck just off the maneuvering area while taxiing into YEG.”

According to Edmonton news reports, there were no injuries as a result of the incident. Prompt action by the flight crew ensured the safe disembarkation of all 170 occupants by 3:30 pm.

Passengers were bussed to the terminal where they were able to collect their baggage. The plane’s location outside the main runway area ensured no disruption to other flights at the YEG Edmonton International Airport.

Regular operations were thus unaffected by the incident.

United Airlines is currently working on how to address the situation with the aircraft. This may involve towing the aircraft to a designated maintenance area for repairs.
