It has emerged that a Spirit Airlines flight to Fort Lauderdale prepared for a possible water landing in Montego Bay due to problems onboard the aircraft.
Information has been released pertinent to this incident, which we will detail in this article.

Spirit Airlines Flight NK270 – Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale…
Spirit Airlines flight NK270 is a routine scheduled flight between Montego Bay and Fort Lauderdale.
The aircraft involved in this incident was N718NK.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N718NK is a 0.1 year old Airbus A321neo that was only delivered to the airline last month.
Of the A321neo variant, Spirit Airlines has 13 in the fleet.
Furthermore, of that 13, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 0.6 years.
Spirit Airlines flight NK270 departed Montego Bay at 1822 UTC on May 26 and initially climbed out towards Fort Lauderdale.
Reporting from The Aviation Herald stated that the crew stopped their climb at 5,000 feet.
This was due to the aircraft losing pressure. From there, it is understood that cabin crew prepared passengers for a possible water landing.
On top of this, passengers were photographed taking off their life vests after the aircraft landed safely.
It is understood the aircraft was grounded for a short period following this incident.
Replacement Aircraft Took Them Onwards…
Following this incident in Montego Bay, a replacement aircraft was sent to take the passengers back to Fort Lauderdale.
Data from RadarBox shows that the Spirit Airlines flight left the Jamaican airport at 2023 local time.
It landed back into FLL at 2259 local time after a delay of around seven to eight hours.
An investigation is underway to establish the full cause of this initial return back to the Jamaican airport.
With the aircraft losing pressure, this can be anything from cabin pressure to a technical issue with the aircraft.
