New Delta Flights From London to New York Plagued with Issues

Delta Air Lines’ new flights from London Gatwick to New York JFK has suffered two incidents in two days, in what is not a good start to the service so far.

Two new incidents have come to light at AviationSource, which we will delve into now.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

Delta Flight DL63 To New York Suffers Two Incidents in London Gatwick…


Flight #1 – April 10…

Flight #1 was one day after launch, on April 11.

This flight was delayed by nearly six hours due to a hydraulic leak coming from it’s landing gear.

It was supposed to depart at 1200 local time on April 11, but didn’t leave until 1756 local time.

Furthermore, Delta Air Lines flight DL63 from London Gatwick, landed into New York JFK at 2110 local time, around five hours and 55 minutes late.

The aircraft in question operating this flight was N188DN.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N188DN is a 27.6 year old Boeing 767-300.

It was delivered to the airline in October 1996.

Flight #2 – April 15…

Incident #2 happened just today (April 15) on the turnaround back to New York JFK from London Gatwick on Delta flight DL63.

The emergency slide on the 1R door on the Boeing 767 was deployed in error.

Data from RadarBox shows that the aircraft is due to depart at 1400 local time.

Furthermore, it is unclear whether more delays will come from this following that incident.

The aircraft operating this flight was also a Boeing 767, registered as N198DN.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N198DN is a 26.3 year old airframe that was delivered to the airline in February 1998.

Not A Good Start?

Not even a week in, and the new flights from London Gatwick to New York JFK with Delta hasn’t been off to a good start.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on whether anymore incidents occur on these flights.

With the first flight being more of a technical issue, it will be interesting to see the circumstances surrounding incident #2.
