A6-EOT is the Emirates Airbus A380 that used to be painted in the Dubai Expo colors and departed from the hub at 0740 local time this morning, inbound for Manchester.

At around 0710 UTC, the aircraft took a steep u-turn over Northern Turkey and proceeded back to Dubai International Airport.

The aircraft then landed back in Dubai at around 1040 UTC.

A6-EOT was delivered to Emirates back in December 2015 and was shortly painted into a special livery to celebrate the partnership with football club Paris Saint-Germain.

It was then painted into the Expo 2020 Mobility/Blue colors between December 2018 and October 2021 before being painted into the special Dubai Expo special colors.

From there, A6-EOT was painted into the Destination Dubai livery in October 2022.

At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the technical issue was for the aircraft not to continue to Manchester, but must have been serious enough to cause a u-turn back to its hub.

AviationSource will approach Emirates for comment on this incident, with there being no timeline for when the new flight to Manchester will take place.

This is a developing story.
