KLM flight KL1279 is a routine scheduled flight between Amsterdam and Edinburgh, with the affected rotation being operated by PH-NXO.

As per data from Planespotters.net, PH-NXO is a 1.1 year old Embraer E195-E2 that was delivered to the Cityhopper subsidiary back in January 2023.

Of the E195-E2, the Dutch carrier has 18 of them in the fleet, of which 17 are in active service and one is currently parked, offering an average fleet age of 1.8 years.

KLM flight KL1279 departed Amsterdam Schiphol at 1132 local time on January 16 and proceeded in a north-westerly direction to Edinburgh.

Upon it’s first approach, the aircraft performed a go-around and headed straight in the direction of Glasgow Prestwick.

As per reporting from The Aviation Herald, the go-around was due to electrical problems to do with the brakes.

The arrival runway at Edinburgh was only 2,500 meters long, but due to this failure, the aircraft needed around 4,000 meters to come to a full stop, which Glasgow Prestwick has.

At the time of writing (18/1/24), the aircraft is still on the ground at the Scottish airport, with no indication into when it will be back in the skies again and to head back to Amsterdam.
