EK59 departed Dubai at 0910 local time this morning, and upon approaching the Hamburg area, the Boeing 777 veered to the south-west of Germany.

It is understood multiple flights have been suspended due to a threat of an attack on an aircraft from the Iranian capital Tehran.

UPDATE #1 @ 1253 UK time – EK59 is descending out of FL190, as Dusseldorf looks to be the airport it is diverting to following the Hamburg airport closure.

UPDATE #2 @ 1256 UK time – Today’s EK59 rotation is being operated by A6-EPB, one of Emirates’ Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

As per data from Planespotters, A6-EPB is a 8.2 year old airframe which was delivered to the airline back in August 2015.

UPDATE #3 @ 1258 UK time – EK59 is descending through FL130 to the north of Dusseldorf, as @RadarBoxCom confirms that the Dusseldorf Airport is the diversion field.

UPDATE #4 @ 1300 UK time – It is key to note that no emergency has been declared, as diversions are typically normal on flights like this, but is unique to the current situation ongoing in Hamburg. It is unclear whether the Emirates flight from Dubai will proceed there after the situation has been rectified.

UPDATE #5 @ 1303 UK time – EK59 is descending through 8,000 feet as the crew prepare for landing into Dusseldorf.

UPDATE #6 @ 1305 UK time – Multiple aircraft are holding around the Hamburg area, awaiting updates on when the airport is reopening and whether an approach there is feasible or not.

UPDATE #7 @ 1306 UK time – Meanwhile, EK59 is on final approach into Dusseldorf and is moments away from completing its diversion.
