Flight crew elected to conduct a missed approach procedure in order to assess the problem. The landing clearance was subsequently cancelled and the aircraft conducted a short period of holding.

Flight data shows that flight DL2728 terminate its approach at 1825 feet before entering a holding pattern to troubleshoot the problem.

Missed Approach ATL

The flight conducted one large holding orbit at 2825 feet before making a further approach into Atlanta. The aircraft subsequently landed without incident approximately 15 minutes after reporting the issue.

The holding pattern and subsequent approach was conducted under normal operating procedures. The flight did not declare a formal emergency.

The nature of the technical problem has not been specified, although it is understood that flight crew reported a flaps mismatch or disagreement.

Flight DL2728 had made an on-time departure out of Savannah Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). Actual time of departure is logged at 0820 local time on 18 April.

The flight then proceeded normally and there were no reported issues with the takeoff and departure procedure.

The aircraft had climbed to FL220 (22,000 feet) for the regional service. Subsequent let down and descent procedures into Atlanta were all conducted without incident.

The flaps issue was then reported to ATC during the final stages of approach to Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Atlanta (ATL).
