In the last few moments, it has emerged that a Delta Air Lines A330neo operating a flight between London Heathrow & Los Angeles has diverted to Reykjavik.

Information is limited surrounding this incident, but below is what we know so far.

Delta Air Lines flight DL187, which diverted to Reykjavik, is a routine scheduled flight between London and Los Angeles.

The aircraft involved in this incident is N420DX.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N420DX is a 1.4 year old Airbus A330-900neo that was delivered to the airline in December 2022.

Of the A330-900neo variant, Delta Air Lines has 27 in the fleet, of which all are in active service.

Furthermore, average fleet age for the variant at the airline stands at 2.5 years.

Delta Air Lines flight DL187, which diverted to Reykjavik, departed London Heathrow at 1722 UK time today for Los Angeles.

Everything seemed normal during the Atlantic Crossing before reaching Iceland.

The crew suddenly deviated north and made a quick descent into KEF, landing safely without further incident.

At this stage, the cause of this diversion to Reykjavik on Delta Air Lines flight DL187 London-Los Angeles is unclear.

What we do know is that the aircraft didn’t utilise the 7700 general emergency squawk.

The Icelandic airport is also used for transatlantic diversions, should it be needed.

As soon as more information pertinent to this diversion is released, then we will update you accordingly.

For now, this remains a developing story.
