It has emerged that an American Eagle flight from Philadelphia slid off the taxiway in Rochester yesterday afternoon.

American Airlines flight AA5811, operated by the Eagle subsidiary, is a routine scheduled flight between Philadelphia and Rochester, with the affected rotation operated by N922AE.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N922AE is a 18.8 year old Embraer ERJ-145LR that was delivered to American Eagle back in April 2005.

Of the Embraer ERJ-145LR variant, the subsidiary to the major U.S carrier has 59 of them in the fleet, of which 53 are in active service and six are currently parked.

American flight AA5811 departed Philadelphia at 1431 local time yesterday and proceeded northbound in the direction of Rochester.

The aircraft landed safely into the New York state-based airport at 1658 local time, but as the aircraft was vacating, it slid off the taxiway.

There were 50 passengers & three crew members onboard the flight, with no injuries reported.

In a statement, American Airlines said the following on the incident, as per 6ABC:

“Safety is our top priority and we apologize to our customers for their experience”, adding that the aircraft would be taken out of service for a full inspection.

All eyes will be on the extent of the damage to the aircraft, as well as when it will be cleared to return to commercial service from Rochester back to Philadelphia going into the future.
