Whatever happened resulted in the left main gear puncturing through the wing. The approach on FR24 looks normal, they’ll have to pull the granular data to learn more. https://t.co/wfMJM5ZONw pic.twitter.com/sOGSFam0Fs

It is understood that N516AS was the aircraft involved in the accident yesterday at Santa Ana, as per data from RadarBox.
No one knows exactly what happened on arrival, but the damage was severe enough to cause the left landing gear to puncture through the wing, which has grounded the aircraft as a result.

A Twitter user who didn’t wish to be credited posted these close-up shots that further detail the damage sustained to the aircraft on arrival:

John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana gave a statement this morning about the accident via social media:
“Last night, an Alaskan Airlines plane experienced an issue upon arrival. All passengers were safely off-boarded on the airfield using airstairs. No injuries were reported.”
This matter will no doubt be forwarded over to the NTSB and the FAA to determine what the cause of this was.
There have been heavy spouts of weather in California due to the ongoing tropical storm, which was a Hurricane starting out in Mexico. It is unclear whether this incident is weather related or not.
But for now, all eyes are on that accident report to come through.
This continues to be a developing story. AviationSource will approach Alaska Airlines for a comment on the incident and will provide further updates as they come in.
UPDATE #1 @ 2126 UK time – Harrowing footage has been found onboard the flight as it committed to a very hard touchdown.
