Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1471 is a routine scheduled flight between San Salvador de Jujuy and Buenos Aires Aeroparque, with the affected rotation being operated by LV-GOO.

As per data from Planespotters.net, LV-GOO is a 14.3 year old Boeing 737-700 aircraft, which has the 70th Anniversary Retro paint scheme on it.

The aircraft was delivered new to the Argentinian carrier back in June 2009. Of the 737-700 variant, the airline has eight of them in the fleet, with an average age of 16.6 years.

Aerolineas Argentinas flight AR1471 departed Jujuy at 0718 local time yesterday morning and proceeded onwards to Buenos Aires Aeroparque.

Near the Cordoba area, the aircraft decided to divert due to a possible fuel leak, with the aircraft landing safely into Cordoba around 30 minutes after taking that decision.

As per The Aviation Herald, there seemed to be some discussion between the airline and the authorities about the cause of the incident.

Local police had said that they had a fuel leak, whereas Aerolineas Argentinas had argued that the aircraft suffered an engine failure instead.

Others are stating that there was no fuel leak, and no engine shutdown. Just a fuel imbalance which led to a fuel system failure.

Due to such arguments, an investigation was opened by the regulatory bodies assigned to incidents like this.

All eyes will be on whose argument is the correct one. Affected passengers were rebooked onto another flight to Buenos Aires from Cordoba and arrived 12 hours late.
