Emirates is a major contributor to the economy of Dubai. It employs over 60,000 people in Dubai, and it is one of the largest taxpayers in the Emirate. Emirates also plays a major role in promoting tourism to Dubai, to which it is estimated that the airline brings over $20 billion into the UAE economy each year, and this figure continues to grow year-on-year as the carrier continues its expansion.
