Romanian Police Operations

Adding another layer to Romania’s aviation prowess, an additional Black Hawk, secured through the European HeliPol project, is scheduled for delivery before the year concludes.

This specific helicopter is earmarked for the Romanian Police, promising a significant enhancement in operational capacity.

Paul Lemmo, president of Sikorsky, remarked, “The arrival of the first Black Hawk helicopters in Romania is a historic event. The Black Hawk is the most capable and dependable helicopter for crews who conduct vital lifesaving and firefighting missions.”

These helicopters bring unparalleled flexibility, enabling rescue missions at greater ranges and in the most challenging environments, with increased survivability.

The delivery of these helicopters is not an isolated event but part of a broader framework agreement. Over the next four years, Romania is set to receive up to 12 Polish-built S-70M aircraft, solidifying its position as a key player in European aerial capabilities.

This long-term commitment underscores the nation’s strategic vision for a robust and versatile helicopter fleet.

Global Black Hawk Operations

With this acquisition, Romania proudly joins the international fleet of Black Hawk operators, becoming the 11th country and the 18th customer for Black Hawk helicopters built by PZL Mielec, Poland’s premier exporter of aerospace equipment.

This membership in the global Black Hawk family opens up avenues for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and shared advancements in helicopter technology.

DELTAMED’s Contribution

It’s not just about the helicopter; it’s about the holistic approach to mission success. Both the land and maritime variant helicopters destined for Romania boast cabins equipped with a cutting-edge medical suite.

This suite is meticulously designed and provided by DELTAMED, a Cluj-Napoca-based integrator specializing in emergency vehicles outfitted for patient care and rescue.

The S-70 Black Hawk boasts some significant tech features. Featuring digital avionics, powerful GE engines, high-strength airframe structures, and composite wide chord rotor blades, this multi-role helicopter offers increased situational awareness, survivability, and performance.

These features not only make it a formidable force in the skies but also position it as a reliable partner in critical missions.
