North American carrier Republic Airways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AURA AERO, a pioneering French aircraft manufacturer.

Under the agreement, Republic will act as an advisor in the development of the ERA, an electric-thrust 19-seater regional aircraft.

The advisory appointment comes as AURA AERO targets the North American market for its new electric-thrust regional aircraft.

Republic Airways

Republic Airways, headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a prominent player in the North American aviation industry.

The airline operates a fleet of over 200 Embraer E170/175 aircraft, providing daily flights to nearly 100 destinations.

With a workforce of more than 6,000 aviation professionals, Republic exclusively flies for Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, and United Airlines.

This presence positions Republic as a key contributor to the future of regional aviation.

North American Market

The Memorandum of Understanding between Republic Airways and AURA AERO outlines their collaboration on the ERA program.

Republic brings its wealth of experience in regional aviation to the table, providing valuable support for the technical and commercial development of the ERA.

This collaboration is poised to enhance AURA AERO’s ability to design and certify a sustainable aircraft that can thrive in the highly competitive North American regional aviation market.

The ERA Regional Aircraft

ERA is more than just an aircraft; it’s a game-changer in the world of regional aviation. This eco-responsible aircraft is a culmination of cutting-edge avionic, aerodynamic, and propulsion innovations.

It’s a versatile aircraft capable of accommodating 19 passengers or carrying 1.9 tons of freight. Furthermore, it can be configured for business aviation, expanding its usability.

One of ERA’s standout features is its pressurized cabin, offering unparalleled passenger comfort. With a range of up to 1,600 kilometers, it can seamlessly operate at major international airports and on short, unprepared runways.

This flexibility makes ERA a formidable contender in the regional aviation market.

Service Entry Before 2030

The aircraft’s first commercial service entries are scheduled before 2030, and it has already garnered significant interest, with around 350 Letters of Intent/Memorandums of Understanding, totaling approximately 3.5 billion euros.

ERA’s applications are diverse, from connecting islands and archipelagos to providing direct flights between regional locations.

It not only reduces CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to thermal aircraft in the same category but also offers significant cost savings in terms of energy and maintenance.

Jérémy CAUSSADE, President and Co-Founder of AURA AERO, spoke on the announcement of Republic’s involvement, stating, “We are very proud to have Republic advising us on the requirements needed for a competitive aircraft in North America.”

He firmly believes that the future of regional aviation is electric and is dedicated to leading the charge in this aviation revolution.
