Jeju Air Comments

Taeha Park, Head of UAM Business Task Force at Jeju Air Co., Ltd., echoed this sentiment, affirming their commitment to leveraging their business know-how and aviation experience.

“As a leading airline, we want to help develop a safe operational environment for UAM, thereby creating new value for the aviation industry,” Park stated.

Drawing parallels with Jeju Air’s historical role in popularizing air travel in Korea, Park expressed their intent to do the same for UAM.

The White Paper’s Focus

The jointly crafted white paper meticulously examines the operational and commercial aspects of introducing UAM services to Jeju Island.

The document incorporates insights from the Jejuair voice of customer survey conducted earlier in 2023.

This collaborative effort aims to pave the way for a safe and efficient UAM ecosystem, drawing on the knowledge garnered from both companies’ extensive experience.

South Korea’s UAM Ambitions

South Korea stands at the forefront of countries laying the groundwork for urban air mobility. Establishing a concept of operations (CONOPS) serves as a foundational step towards realizing the vision of future UAM.

Eve Air Mobility has been at the forefront of shaping these concepts, collaborating with various cities, countries, and regulatory authorities globally, including the U.S., Brazil, and the U.K.

Augustine Tai, APAC Business Development Lead for Eve Air Mobility, emphasized the importance of a measured and thoughtful approach.

“We are taking a very measured and thoughtful approach to understand the needs, opportunities, and challenges of each region,” Tai noted.

The latest effort in Jeju Island, he believes, will serve as a valuable reference for all stakeholders interested in UAM in South Korea.

The CONOPS Unveiled

The CONOPS developed through this collaboration will be accessible on Eve’s website, offering the community a profound understanding of how the UAM ecosystem will revolutionize transportation on Jeju Island.

Eve envisions that the CONOPS will not only inform stakeholders but also inspire collaboration among industry players, regulatory agencies, civil and government entities, and the local community.

The goal is to foster ongoing investment, development, and integration of this innovative mode of transportation.
