In recent years, the concept of urban air mobility (UAM) has gained significant traction. This is particularly so with the advent of hybrid electric Vertical TakeOff and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

New Horizon Aircraft Ltd. (NASDAQ: HOVR), operating as Horizon Aircraft, has been at the forefront of this revolution, pioneering the development of advanced eVTOL technologies.

A recent global research study was commissioned by Horizon Aircraft. It sheds light on the perspectives of Japanese private equity, venture capital, and family office investors regarding the growth trajectory of the eVTOL market.

It reveals that 65% of Japanese professional investors believe in the need to address transportation issues. This comes amidst increasing urban populations, which they see as a key driver of eVTOL market growth.

In addition, more than two in five (43%) Japanese investors predict the first eVTOL commercial passenger routes will be operational by 2026.

The Impact of Urbanization on eVTOL Adoption

Urbanization has emerged as a dominant global trend. Current projections indicate that by 2050, 65% of the world’s population will reside in cities.

This mass migration to urban areas is estimated at nearly 2.3 billion people over the next three decades. This influx will exacerbate congestion and transportation challenges.

Japanese investors, managing assets worth over $423 billion, perceive this trend as a pivotal factor. It is perceived that it will drive the demand for eVTOL solutions.

Optimism in the UAM Market

Japanese professional investors exhibit growing optimism regarding the UAM market’s potential. According to the study, 43% of investors believe that commercial UAM routes will become operational by 2026. An additional 18% of those investors anticipate this milestone as early as 2025.

Such optimism highlights the perceived urgency in addressing urban transportation challenges through innovative aerial solutions.

The transition towards sustainable urban mobility necessitates regulatory support and eco-friendly transportation alternatives.

A significant majority (83%) of Japanese investors emphasize the importance of regulatory backing in reducing the aviation sector’s carbon footprint.

This sentiment reflects a collective acknowledgment of the imperative to align technological advancements with environmental sustainability goals.
