Avia Solutions Group, one of the world’s leading Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) providers, has recently acquired Synergy Aviation, a UK-based airline operator.

The acquisition is part of Avia Solutions Group’s strategy to strengthen its position in the UK aviation market and expand its range of services.

Rebranding as Ascend Airways

Under the new ownership, Synergy Aviation will be rebranded as Ascend Airways. The company currently holds an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) and a Type B Operating License from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

With this acquisition, Avia Solutions Group aims to leverage the existing infrastructure and expertise of Synergy Aviation to enhance its ACMI and Charter services in the UK.

Jonas Janukenas, the CEO of Avia Solutions Group, expressed his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “We have been actively involved in the UK aviation market for over a decade through our MRO and Charter Brokerage businesses.”

“Acquiring a UK AOC through Synergy Aviation will open up new opportunities for our group and allow us to extend our ACMI and Charter services to a wider customer base in the UK.”

Alastair Willson, who will assume the role of managing and developing Avia Solutions Group’s Charter and ACMI business in the UK, highlighted the benefits of having a local AOC.

He explained, “By obtaining a Type A Operating License, we will be able to provide ACMI and Charter services using aircraft with a seating capacity of 180 to 200 seats by the end of this year.”

“This will enable us to offer UK customers locally-based aircraft and crews, providing a more flexible and reliable service while minimizing operational disruptions.”

Avia Solutions Group

Avia Solutions Group, based in Ireland, is the parent company of several airlines, including SmartLynx Airlines, Avion Express, Bluebird Nordic, KlasJet, and Magma Aviation.

With a fleet of 180 aircraft, the group currently holds 10 AOCs and has ambitious plans for expansion in various regions worldwide.

In addition to the UK, Avia Solutions Group aims to further strengthen its presence in Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

As part of its growth strategy, the company plans to obtain an AOC in Indonesia in July 2023, expanding its global footprint to over 68 countries.
