On July 16, at the prestigious 2023 Airline Strategy Awards in London, Atlas Air Worldwide was recognized for its outstanding performance in the Air Cargo Leadership category.

The accolade was granted by an independent judging panel, acknowledging the company’s market achievements and leadership in catering to the ever-expanding demands of the global supply chain.

Landmark transaction for Atlas Air Worldwide

Editor of Airline Business, Lewis Harper, expressed that the completion of the transaction, which brought Atlas Air Worldwide under private ownership, was a significant milestone for the company.

This move not only brought immediate value to the shareholders but also bolstered the company’s position to effectively meet the burgeoning requirements of the global supply chain.

Earlier in the year, a notable investor group led by Apollo funds, along with investment affiliates of J.F. Lehman & Company and Hill City Capital, successfully completed the acquisition of Atlas Air Worldwide, marking a new chapter in the company’s growth and development.

Diversification in air cargo functions

In recent years, the leadership team at Atlas Air Worldwide embarked on a strategic path of diversification, venturing into various sectors, including express, e-commerce, passenger services, and aircraft leasing.

This diversification strategy, coupled with the company’s exceptional performance in traditional air cargo functions, earned it high praise from the judges.

Mr. Harper highlighted that Atlas Air Worldwide had not only outpaced the market but also managed to capture significant market share in recent times.

The company’s commitment to diversification, combined with the strong ownership by Apollo, J.F. Lehman, and Hill City Partners, instilled confidence in the judges that Atlas was destined for future success.
