Airbus Helicopters and PHI Group have inked an agreement for 20 super-medium H175 helicopters and 8 H160s to serve the energy market worldwide, including in the US.

The new framework includes commitments for super-medium H175 helicopters and H160s to cater to the ever-growing demand for the energy sector.

Under the new agreement, PHI commits to 20 super-medium H175 helicopters and 8 H160s to serve the energy market worldwide; including the lucrative United States market.

The new 28 helicopters are poised to expand PHI commitments in the field of the energy market to respond to the growing offshore transportation needs. This new deal will propel PHI commitments to greater heights.

Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters stated: “We are proud of our ongoing partnership with PHI, a company recognized in the industry for its leadership in innovation and safety.”

“We thank them for renewing their confidence in the H160 and for adding the H175, for their long-range missions, to their growing fleet.”

“At a time when passenger safety, economic competitiveness, and energy efficiency are key to conquering any market, the H160 and the H175 are reliable options for the years to come and we look forward to supporting their operations worldwide.”

PHI and the Energy Industry

The industry and the helicopter company are joined at the hip. PHI has been serving and supporting the energy sector for over 7 decades or 74 years to be exact.

As of the time of writing, PHI operates over 200 helicopters across the world in supporting energy and in the medical sector.

PHI’s Airbus fleet comprises H125, H135, H145, H160, and H175 family helicopters. The latest round of aircraft orders which includes the H175 is the latest in its addition.

The H175

The H175 helicopter has been in service since 2015 and is one of Airbus’s most prized machines. The H175 sits in the upper-medium class of helicopters with offers long-range with smooth flight profiles.

This makes the H175 an unbeatable helicopter in its class and for PHI’s mission portfolio. The H175 can serve missions including offshore crew change, public services, and private and business aviation.

In fact, there are currently 54 H175s flying globally with a total of 195,000 flight hours, of which 170,000 are flying for the energy sector!

Deriving from the flying hours, the H175 is truly an offshore workhorse, competing against the AW139 and the AW169.

Moreover, PHI is also able to adapt sustainable aviation fuel on both the newly ordered H175s and the H160s.
