Emergency Virgin Atlantic flight VS118 from Miami has commenced it’s descent into London Heathrow following the 7700 emergency squawk minutes ago.
About G-VYUM…
G-VYUM is the aircraft operating this flight.
As per Planespotters, G-VYUM is a 8.9 year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that was delivered to VS in May 2015.
Of the 787-9 variant, the UK carrier has 17 in it’s fleet, of which all but one are in active service.
Furthermore, average fleet age for the variant stands at 8.1 years.
Reason Still Unclear…
Virgin Atlantic flight VS118 from Miami continues to descend and is over the Plymouth area as the aircraft is still scheduled to land into London Heathrow despite the emergency broadcast.

@FlightEmergency on X confirms that the reason for the emergency on VS118 Miami-London was a medical-related incident onboard the aircraft, which required the need to land on 09L immediately.
