A United Airlines flight bound from Los Angeles to New York Newark has declared an emergency moments after departure.
Shortly after departure from Los Angeles (LAX), United flight UA1076 squawked 7700 and is remaining around 10,000 feet.
As per data from RadarBox, the United Airlines Boeing 757 was heading to New York’s Newark Airport (EWR) from Los Angeles (LAX).

Updates from the United Airlines Flight Bound to New York from Los Angeles…
The aircraft in question is registered as N57111 and is a Boeing 757-200 variant, and at the time of writing is nearly 29 years old.
UA1076 is currently heading towards the Newport Beach area.
The Boeing 757 from United Airlines appears now to be holding off the coast of Long Beach.
UPDATE #1 @ 2050 UK time – The aircraft is currently holding south of Long Beach at this time. It is unclear what the nature of the emergency is and why it is not continuing on to New York.
UPDATE #2 @ 2100 UK time – The United Airlines flight UA1076, originally bound for New York Newark is still holding to the south of its origin point.
UPDATE #3 @ 2102 UK time – At this time, reports are coming in that the cause of the emergency is down to unknown hydraulic issues as per the LAFD.
UPDATE #4 @ 2106 UK time – UA1076 appears to be exiting its hold, and is descending currently. Expectation is a return to Los Angeles.
UPDATE #5 @ 2110 UK time – UA1076 looks to be heading into another vectored hold. Unknown when the holding will cease and when the aircraft will continue onward in its diversion. Currently at 7,900 as per @RadarBoxCom.
UPDATE #6 @ 2123 UK time – UA1076 has now exited the hold and is enroute back to Los Angeles International Airport. Standby for updates.
UPDATE #7 @ 2125 UK time – Descending through 6,000 feet currently over the Seal Beach area, as per @RadarBoxCom.
UPDATE #8 @ 2126 UK time – The aircraft is now on base leg into LAX.
UPDATE #9 @ 2127 UK time – ATC has said they expect the south complex of the airport to close due to this emergency!
UPDATE #10 @ 2129 UK time – UA1076, originally bound for New York, is now on final into its origin point of LAX. Normal speed landing for Runway 25L. Emergency services on standby.
UPDATE #11 @ 2133 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! As per data from @RadarBoxCom, United Airlines flight UA1076 appears to have landed safely back into LAX. Updates to follow shortly.
UPDATE #12 @ 2135 UK time – UA1076 has come to a stop on the southern runway at LAX. Unsure when or if the aircraft will be able to taxi by itself.
UPDATE #13 @ 2136 UK time – Flight tracking is showing multiple vehicles surrounding the aircraft at this present time.
UPDATE #14 @ 2140 UK time – L.A FLIGHTS on YouTube has a clear view of the emergency taking place on the southside of the airport. Looks like the landing gear has been manually retracted.
UPDATE #15 @ 2142 UK time – Understanding that the aircraft’s landing gear doors never closed after departure.
UPDATE #16 @ 2145 UK time – The aircraft is awaiting a tow. It will then be taken off the runway before operations can begin again on 25L.
UPDATE #17 @ 2147 UK time – The aircraft tow truck is nearing the aircraft and is preparing to take the United Boeing 757 off the runway.
