UPDATE #1 @ 1012 UK time – Scoot flight TR16 to Perth is currently to the east of Singapore Changi at 10,100 feet.

UPDATE #2 @ 1013 UK time – At this time, it is unclear what the reason for the emergency is.

UPDATE #3 @ 1014 UK time – As per Planespotters, 9V-OJF is a 8.2 year old airframe that was first delivered to the airline back in October 2015.

UPDATE #4 @ 1015 UK time – This plane has already been involved in an incident this year, with the jet losing it’s left nose wheel in Taipei back in June 2023.

UPDATE #5 @ 1017 UK time – Looks like TR16 will be entering some holds before making its approach back into Changi Airport.

UPDATE #6 @ 1021 UK time – Quite the deviation that TR16 has taken, with the aircraft looking at either turning west to the airport or will be holding.

UPDATE #7 @ 1024 UK time – TR16 is in the hold, and will be burning fuel no doubt or getting the issue under control before continuing back into Singapore Changi. Still unclear what the reason is and why it is not continuing on to Perth.

UPDATE #8 @ 1027 UK time – TR16 had quite the sharp descent upon its emergency call, offering the speculation that it could have been a depressurisation issue.

UPDATE #10 @ 1044 UK time – TR16 looks to have come out of it’s existing holds. Unclear whether it will perform anymore.

UPDATE #14 @ 1111 UK time – TR16 looks to be on a sharp right base currently, as they pass through 5,000 feet.

UPDATE #15 @ 1117 UK time – Multiple aircraft are in the hold at Singapore Changi Airport, offering the view that they are waiting for the aircraft to land.

UPDATE #16 @ 1120 UK time – Scoot flight TR16 is on final approach into Singapore Changi Airport, following it’s emergency call over an hour ago.

UPDATE #17 @ 1126 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! TR16 has appeared to have touched down safely as per @RadarBoxCom. With aircraft currently holding for this emergency, we will continue to monitor the situation.

UPDATE #18 @ 1128 UK time – TR16 has vacated the runway safely, which has allowed the multiple aircraft in the hold to start getting sequenced in for arrival.

UPDATE #19 @ 1200 UK time – Unconfirmed reports coming in that armed F-15s of the Singapore Air Force were scrambled to escort the jet. We are verifying this information currently.

UPDATE #20 @ 1203 UK time – Report of fighter jet escort for the Scoot Boeing 787 is confirmed, which would explain why no other aircraft were allowed in or out at the time of the emergency.

UPDATE #21 @ 1209 UK time – As per The Straits Times, Scoot confirms that the cause of the emergency was a bomb threat.

“The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) was activated to escort the aircraft back to Changi Airport. Emergency services were also activated.”

“TR16 landed safely in Singapore at 6.27pm where security checks were carried out,”

“Scoot is assisting the authorities with their investigations. As this is a security matter, we regret that we are unable to provide further details.

“Scoot sincerely apologises for the disruption and inconvenience caused. The safety of our customers and crew is our top priority, and we will continue to provide assistance to our customers.”

UPDATE #13 @ 1235 UK time – The second runway at Singapore Changi has become operational following the incident, indicating that the sweep for a device on the aircraft has been completed. Very busy scenes in Singapore at the moment.
