UPDATE #1 @ 0948 UK time – SAS flight SK973 from Copenhagen is on final to Bangkok following the declaration of an emergency, with landing imminent.

UPDATE #2 @ 0949 UK time – This was the routing during the aircraft’s descent into the Thai capital during the emergency declaration.

UPDATE #3 @ 0951 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! SAS flight SK973 from Copenhagen has appeared to have touched down safely into Bangkok following the emergency declaration a few minutes ago. Information to come shortly.

UPDATE #4 @ 0952 UK time – As per data from Planespotters, SE-RSD is a 3.4 year old Airbus A350-900 aircraft. SAS has three units of the type in their fleet at the time of writing.

UPDATE #5 @ 0953 UK time – This route is not very old, with the inauguration taking place earlier last week.

UPDATE #6 @ 0953 UK time – AviationSource will approach SAS for a comment on this emergency on its arrival into Bangkok. As soon as we have an update, we will update the article in due course.
