Ryanair Flight to Dublin Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 1149 UK time – Ryanair flight FR1979 to Dublin is currently on final into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport following its broadcast a few moments ago.

UPDATE #2 @ 1151 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! FR1979 has appeared to have touched down safely into Amsterdam Schiphol following its emergency call which resulted in a loop around the Dutch coast and a subsequent diversion.

UPDATE #3 @ 1152 UK time – As per data from Planespotters, EI-DWO is a 15.9 year old Boeing 737-8AS that operated today’s FR1979 flight between Lodz and Dublin.

It was delivered to Ryanair in November 2007. Within the Ryanair Holdings Group, the airline has a fleet of 410 Boeing 737-8AS aircraft.

UPDATE #4 @ 1153 UK time – FR1979 has appeared to have vacated the runway safely at Amsterdam Schiphol, with no indication into the reason for the emergency and whether the aircraft will be continuing on to Dublin.

UPDATE #5 @ 1202 UK time – Early indications suggest that it was a medical emergency onboard, as the aircraft has been met by an ambulance on stand.
