Earlier this evening, a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Alicante declared an emergency and diverted to Barcelona due to multiple unruly passengers.

The initial reports indicated one disruptive passenger, with this then escalating further as the cause was being found out.

FR4076 – Manchester to Alicante: Barcelona Diversion…


Earlier this evening, a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Alicante declared an emergency and diverted to Barcelona due to multiple unruly passengers.

Ryanair flight FR4076 is a routine scheduled flight between Manchester and Alicante.

The aircraft involved in the emergency diversion to Barcelona is registered as 9H-QEM.

As per data from Planespotters.net, 9H-QEM is a 6.1 year old Boeing 737-800 that started out life with Ryanair in March 2018.

By January 2020, the aircraft was handed over to their Maltese subsidiary Malta Air.

Furthermore, of the 737-800 variant, Malta Air has 174 of them in the fleet, of which 169 are in active service and five are parked.

Average fleet age for the variant at the airline stands at 6.8 years.

Ryanair flight FR4076 departed Manchester at 1819 local time this evening and proceeded southbound to Alicante.

Nearing the Barcelona area, the crew declared an emergency via the 7700 squawk code and made a rapid descent.

Furthermore, the aircraft landed safely without further incident into the Spanish airport.

The story developed after the landing into Barcelona of Ryanair flight FR4076 from Manchester to Alicante.

As per @FlightEmergency on X, it started off as one disruptive passenger onboard the plane.

Minutes after, an update was put out stating that there were “multiple” unruly passengers on the aircraft.

Furthermore, FR4076 continued on to Alicante from Manchester via Barcelona after the passengers were removed from the aircraft.

In conclusion, all eyes on whether more information comes through in the next few days.
