Qatar Airways A350 Doha-Dallas Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 1417 UK time – Qatar Airways flight QR729 is passing through FL200 as the aircraft continues it’s emergency diversion to Reykjavik.

UPDATE #2 @ 1419 UK time – As per Planespotters, A7-ANE is a 5.2 year old Airbus A350-1000 that was delivered to the airline back in November 2018.

Of the A350-1000 variant, the airline has 24 of them in the fleet, of which all are in active service.

UPDATE #3 @ 1423 UK time – At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is for this flight from Doha to Dallas.

UPDATE #4 @ 1424 UK time – Weather reports indicating that Qatar Airways flight QR729 will use Runway 10 for it’s emergency landing into Keflavik Airport, which is to the west of Reykjavik.

UPDATE #5 @ 1428 UK time – QR729 is passing through FL80 as the aircraft gets ready for it’s emergency landing onto Runway 10 at Keflavik.

UPDATE #6 @ 1437 UK time – QR729 looks to be setting itself up for Runway 01 instead of 10, possibly because of the need for more runway.

UPDATE #7 @ 1441 UK time – QR729 is now on final for Runway 01 at Keflavik Airport.

UPDATE #8 @ 1445 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Qatar Airways flight QR729 between Doha and Dallas has appeared to have touched down safely into Keflavik Airport following it’s emergency broadcast around 30 minutes ago. As soon as we have updates, we will mention this.

UPDATE #9 @ 1633 UK time – @FlightEmergency on X confirms that the cause of today’s emergency was medical-related.
