It has emerged that a Polar Air Cargo Boeing 777 bound for Los Angeles made an emergency landing in Tokyo due to an engine fire.

Information has been released pertinent to this incident, which took place yesterday.

Polar Air Cargo Flight PO752 – Tokyo to Los Angeles…


It has emerged that a Polar Air Cargo Boeing 777 bound for Los Angeles made an emergency landing in Tokyo due to an engine fire.

Polar Air Cargo flight PO752 is a routine scheduled flight between Tokyo and Los Angeles.

The aircraft involved in this incident was N714SA.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N714SA is a 12.3 year old Boeing 777 Freighter that started out with Southern Air in March 2012.

Furthermore, the aircraft has been consistently been operated under the DHL Aviation umbrella with Atlas Air also owning the aircraft.

In June 2022, the jet was handed over to Polar Air Cargo and is still under the same DHL Aviation contract.

Polar Air Cargo is part of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings and the DHL Group.

Of the 777 Freighter variant, the carrier has four of them in the fleet.

Furthermore, of that four, all are in active service, with an average fleet age of 13.3 years.

PO752 departed Tokyo at 1016 local time yesterday and initially climbed out to Los Angeles.

As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood that the crew declared an emergency due to an engine fire.

From there, the crew ran checklists, and brought the aircraft back on the ground safely without further incident.

Aircraft Still Grounded Following the Incident…

Data from RadarBox shows that N714SA, the Polar Air Cargo Boeing 777 operating the Tokyo-Los Angeles flight is still grounded following the incident.

Furthermore, maintenance technicians will need to assess the scale of the damage following the fire.

It is understood the JTSB has started an investigation into this incident as well.
