A Kuwait Airways flight operating from Istanbul to Kuwait City has declared an emergency whilst en route.
Kuwait Airways flight KU158, an Airbus A320 operating from Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) to Kuwait International Airport (KWI) declared a general emergency with transponder code 7700 whilst in the cruise approaching the destination.

Having declared the emergency from the cruise, flight KU158 is now on descent in the early stages of its approach to Kuwait International Airport (KWI), continuing to squawk code 7700.
The nature of the emergency is not known at this time.
Flight data for this afternoon’s KU158 service shows the flight made an on-time departure out of Istanbul SAW at 15:10 local time today; setting course normally and climbing to FL330 (33,000 feet) for the southerly flight.
The flight continued normally, before the aircraft declared the emergency whilst inbound to KWI over Iraqi airspace.

Flight KU158 now setting up in the circuit area for an approach to RWY33. Weather for the flight’s arrival is visual conditions (VFR) with light winds and visibility 10 kilometres or more.
The aircraft conducting today’s KU158 rotation from Istanbul is an Airbus A320-251N, registered 9K-AKR; a one-year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the Kuwaiti national carrier.
Confirming the flight now landed at KWI at 18:07 local time.
