Earlier today, a KLM flight between Bologna and Amsterdam declared an emergency, prompting a diversion to Frankfurt.

Information surrounding this incident is limited, but below is what we know so far.

KL1584 – Bologna-Amsterdam: Diversion to Frankfurt…

KLM flight KL1584 is a routine scheduled flight between Bologna and Amsterdam.

The affected rotation, which diverted to Frankfurt, was operated by PH-NXI.

As per data from Planespotters.net, PH-NXI is a 2.1 year old Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

It was delivered to the Cityhopper subsidiary of KLM back in March 2022.

Furthermore, of the E195-E2 variant, the Dutch carrier has 18 of them, of which 15 are in active service and three are currently parked.

They hold an average fleet age of 2.0 years.

KL1584 departed Bologna at 1306 local time this afternoon and proceeded northbound initially to Amsterdam.

Upon nearing the Frankfurt area, the crew onboard a 7700 general emergency onboard the aircraft.

This prompted a rapid descent into FRA and subsequent landing, which occurred at 1416 local time without incident.

At this stage, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency was on KLM flight KL1584 between Bologna and Amsterdam which diverted to Frankfurt.

What we do know is that the aircraft continued onwards to AMS from Frankfurt, around two hours after landing.

This would hint that there was nothing technically wrong with the aircraft, which could lead a belief that it was medical-related.

KL1584 landed back into AMS without incident at 1605 local time this afternoon.

Furthermore, as soon as we have more information pertaining to the emergency, then we will update the article accordingly.
