These new flight additions on the Nairobi-New York route with Kenya Airways are set to increase.

It is understood this will be discussed further at a roadshow, partnered with the local Tourism Board.

Such frequency increases will apply between June 15 and September 28 of this year.

The additional flights will take place on a Thursday and Saturday.

Kenya Airways flight KQ004 will depart Nairobi at 0845 local time and arrive into New York at 1645 local time.

The return will then depart at 2000 local time, arriving back into the Kenyan capital at 1645 local time the next day.

In a statement, the airline said the following on the increased frequencies:

“To complement the growing appetite for travel to Kenya, Kenya Airways has introduced two (2) additional flights on the New York route between 15th June 2024 to 28th September 2024, covering the summer peak season.”

“This move brings the number of weekly flights to nine (9) with Thursday and Saturday providing guests with the option of two flights (morning and afternoon) out of New York.”

“In addition to the direct flight advantage, the new schedule also offers guests a unique, convenient same-day arrival flight option (morning departure from Nairobi and afternoon arrival in New York).”

“Kenya Airways introduced the direct route between New York and Nairobi in 2018, providing a gateway into East Africa and opening up the region for business and leisure travel.”

Away from the increase in Nairobi-New York flights, Kenya Airways has been focusing on international connectivity.

Last month, the airline signed a deal with Air Europa.

Kenya Airways will benefit from this deal as it will enable passengers from Nairobi to fly onwards to Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, New York & Miami with Air Europa.

The Spanish carrier’s passengers will benefit from travel to the Kenyan airport via flights to Amsterdam Schiphol.

All eyes will be on more announcements throughout this year pertinent to international operations.

In conclusion, the addition in flights between Nairobi and New York with Kenya Airways will be welcomed.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on performance to establish whether this can be converted into a year-round upgrade.

With international demand increasing into the country, this will be a positive sign to fuel further expansion.

But for now, let’s see how the additions perform over the course of the Summer 2024 season.
