Jet2 Flight Lanzarote-Glasgow Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 1909 UK time – Jet2 flight LS168 from Lanzarote is descending through FL140 as the Boeing 737-800 gets closer to Glasgow. The cause of the emergency is not yet known.

UPDATE #2 @ 1910 UK time – As per Planespotters, G-JZBA is a 6.2 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the carrier back in October 2017.

Of the 737-800 variant, the airline has 88 of them in the fleet, with 79 in active service and nine currently parked, holding an average fleet age of 14.1 years currently.

UPDATE #3 @ 1912 UK time – Jet2 flight LS168 is directly south of Glasgow Airport currently as the aircraft is about to join the downwind leg into the Scottish airport.

UPDATE #4 @ 1914 UK time – LS168 from Lanzarote is now on the downwind leg as the flight prepares for it’s emergency landing into the Scottish airport. Still unclear at this time what the cause is.

UPDATE #5 @ 1918 UK time – LS168 is now on the base leg into Glasgow Airport, emergency landing imminent.

UPDATE #6 @ 1920 UK time – Jet2 flight LS168 is on finals.

UPDATE #7 @ 1924 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! LS168 from Lanzarote has appeared to have touched down safely into Glasgow Airport following it’s emergency call during it’s descent into the Scottish airport. We will provide updates when we can.

UPDATE #8 @ 1925 UK time – @FlightEmergency confirming that it was a Medical Emergency during descent into Glasgow.
