The aircraft, registered as G-JZBK is operating flight LS517 from Newcastle (NCL) to Tenerife South (TFS) when it squawked 7700 off the coast of Portugal just over two hours into its flight.

Looking at its current flight track, the aircraft appears to be diverting to Porto Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO) in Portugal.
The aircraft is still currently heading towards Porto and is passing through 10,000 feet on its descent.

Jet2 flight LS517 is now on its base leg for Porto at 5,000 feet.

The aircraft is now on its final approach to Porto Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO).

The aircraft has now safely landed at Porto Francisco de Sa Carneiro Airport (OPO) at 17:24 p.m. UTC time.

At this time it is currently unclear as to what this emergency/diversion is due to.
Regarding the aircraft, G-JZBK is a 2018-built Boeing 737-800 NextGeneration and has been with Jet2 ever since its delivery back in March 2018, which at the time of this emergency makes it just over five years old.
The aircraft has a total seating capacity of 189 all-Economy class seats.
AviationSource will approach Jet2 for a comment on the emergency, with still no indication of the cause of the diversion and emergency.
This is a developing story.
