Last week, an Aloha Air Cargo Boeing 737-400 declared an emergency in Honolulu due to faulty instruments.

Aloha Air Cargo flight KH24 is a routine scheduled flight between Honolulu and Kahului, with the affected rotation being operated by N405YK.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N405YK is a 32.4 year old Boeing 737-400 that originally started out life with British Airways in October 1991.

By October 2015, the aircraft was handed over to Automatic LLC for cargo conversion, before being sent to West Atlantic UK, and then onto Northern Air Cargo in March 2020.

Aloha Air Cargo only took ownership of the aircraft in January 2023.

Of the 737 variant, the carrier has six in total, of which all are in active service and hold an average age of 29.6 years.

KH24 departed Honolulu at 1135 local time on February 16 and initially climbed out towards Kahului.

As per reporting from The Aviation Herald, upon reaching 3,000 feet, the aircraft declared an emergency, squawked 7700 and began to return to the airport.

After just 15 minutes in the air, N405YK was back on the ground safely, with the aviation safety outlet reporting that this was due to indications on the flight instrumentation not being functional.

N405YK remained on the ground for around three days, before returning to commercial service.
