An easyJet flight operating from Porto to Basel has declared an emergency whilst en route.
easyJet flight U27731, operated by easyJet Europe, was carrying out a scheduled flight from Porto (OPO) to Basel (BSL) Switzerland, when it declared a general emergency en route.

The flight, operated by an Airbus A320-200, declared an emergency, squawking code 7700 as it approached the French coast inbound to Basel.

Flight U27731, having declared the emergency in the cruise, is now executing a diversion to Nantes (NTE), and is passing through 3,000 feet on descent.

The aircraft now setting up for a straight-in approach to Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE) RWY03, with visual conditions and light winds for its VFR arrival.

Flight information shows that U27731 made an on-time departure from Porto Airport, Portugal earlier this morning, at 07:11 WEST.
The flight then continued normally, climbing to cruising altitude FL360 on track for Basel. the flight then declared the emergency in the cruise at 06:58 UTC as it approached the southwest coast of France.
At that point the flight initiated a descent before making good an unscheduled diversion to nearby Nantes Atlantique Airport (NTE), where it landed at 07:20 UTC.
The aircraft in question for today’s flight is Airbus A320-200, registered OE-IJB; an 8-year old aircraft belonging to the carrier easyJet.
