DHL 777 Leipzig-Cincinnati Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 1932 UK time – DHL flight D0384 from Leipzig to Cincinnati has descended to FL100 over north-west Germany following the emergency declaration.

UPDATE #2 @ 1933 UK time – G-DHLX, the aircraft operating this flight, is a 1.7 year old Boeing 777 Freighter that was delivered to the cargo carrier back in May 2022, as per data from Planespotters.net.

Of the 777F variant, the airline has 29 of them in the fleet, of which all are in active service, offering an average fleet age of 5.2 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1935 UK time – At this time, it is unclear which airfield the aircraft will be diverting to following the emergency call onboard DHL flight D0384 from Leipzig to Cincinnati.

UPDATE #4 @ 1942 UK time – D0384 still continues to track west at FL100 – Amsterdam Schiphol a potential option for diversion, but nothing yet confirmed.

UPDATE #5 @ 1954 UK time – D0384 still at FL100 as the aircraft gets closer to Amsterdam with no sign of descent as of yet. Could be getting ready to dump fuel over open water potentially.

UPDATE #6 @ 2006 UK time – DHL flight D0384 from Leipzig to Cincinnati continues to track west, away from Amsterdam, with the current track heading to the UK at present.

UPDATE #7 @ 2007 UK time – If the diversion field of choice is the UK for D0384, then it is likely that East Midlands will be the port of call for this as they have a base there for maintenance.

UPDATE #8 @ 2027 UK time – Another possibility for a diversion field would be Manchester as STS did maintenance on the aircraft not too long ago.

UPDATE #9 @ 2036 UK time – DHL flight D0384 from Leipzig to Cincinnati, has now made a turn south, meaning that a diversion to East Midlands is the most likely currently.

UPDATE #10 @ 2041 UK time – D0384 has started it’s descent, with East Midlands Airport confirmed as the diversion field.

UPDATE #11 @ 2042 UK time – @FlightEmergency on X confirming that the reason for the emergency was due to a loss of cabin pressure onboard the aircraft.

UPDATE #12 @ 2047 UK time – D0384 is now on final approach into East Midlands after nearly two hours in the air.

UPDATE #13 @ 2052 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! DHL flight D0384, originally bound for Cincinnati from Leipzig, has appeared to have touched down safely into East Midlands following it’s emergency broadcast caused by cabin depressurisation.
