Delta Flight Gainesville-Atlanta Declares Emergency

UPDATE #1 @ 2304 UK time – Delta Air Lines flight DL2392 from Gainesville to Atlanta is currently descending through FL110 and is around 10 minutes out from ATL.

UPDATE #2 @ 2305 UK time – As per Planespotters, N948AT, the aircraft operating this flight, is a 24.3 year old Boeing 717-2BD that was delivered to the carrier back in August 2015, following a sting with AirTran Airways since December 1999.

Of the 717 variant, Delta currently has 88 of them in the fleet, of which 70 are in active service and 18 are parked, offering an average age of 22.4 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 2306 UK time – At this time, it is unclear what the nature of the emergency is for DL2392 from Gainesville, bound for Atlanta. Assumption is that ATL will still be the destination, with no diversion marked currently.

UPDATE #4 @ 2314 UK time – DL2392 continues to track towards Atlanta, with the crew stopping their descent at FL80 as they wait to get closer to ATL for what will be an emergency landing into the airport.

UPDATE #5 @ 2316 UK time – DL2392 from Gainesville continues it’s emergency descent into Atlanta. It is still unclear what the issue is onboard the Delta Boeing 717.

UPDATE #6 @ 2319 UK time – DL2392 on the base leg into ATL.

UPDATE #7 @ 2320 UK time – DL2392 is now on final approach into Atlanta, with the emergency landing expected imminently.

UPDATE #8 @ 2323 UK time – TOUCHDOWN! Delta Air Lines flight DL2392 has appeared to have touched down into ATL safely. Once we get the cause of the emergency for the flight hailing from Gainesville, then we will update you accordingly.
