Delta Air Lines flight DL5807 is a routine scheduled flight between Pittsburgh and New York JFK.

The aircraft involved in the emergency was registered as N239JQ.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N239JQ is a 15.7 year old Embraer E175 that started out life with Compass Airlines in September 2008.

It operated the aircraft for Northwest Airlink at the time, which then became Delta Connection after the merger.

Republic Airlines now owns the aircraft, operating the aircraft for the Connection subsidiary still.

Of the E175 variant, DL Connection has 131 of them in the fleet, of which all but five are in active service.

Furthermore, average fleet age for the variant stands at 9.2 years.

Delta Air Lines flight DL5807 departed Pittsburgh at 1138 local time this morning and initially climbed out to New York.

After reaching an altitude of 31,000 feet, the aircraft deviated east and then southwest back to it’s departure field.

Whilst this was happening, the aircraft declared an emergency and proceeded to descent rapidly into PIT.

The aircraft landed without further incident after over an hour in the air.
