In the last few moments, a Delta Air Lines flight from New York LaGuardia has declared an emergency on descent into Atlanta Airport.

Information is still limited regarding this incident, but here is what we know so far.

Delta Air Lines flight DL1192 is a routine scheduled flight between New York LaGuardia and Atlanta.

The aircraft involved in this emergency is registered as N394DX.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N394DX is a 4.6 year old Airbus A321ceo that was delivered to the airline in August 2019.

Of the A321ceo variant, Delta Air Lines has 127 of them, of which 123 are in active service and four are parked.

Furthermore, average fleet age for the variant at the airline stands at 5.3 years.

Delta Air Lines flight DL1192, which is the emergency in question, departed New York LaGuardia at 0656 local time bound for Atlanta.

Everything was normal for most of the flight until the 7700 squawk was broadcasted.

It is understood that the aircraft landed safely into the mega hub at 0926 local time this morning.

At this stage, it is unclear what the reason for the emergency is onboard Delta Air Lines flight DL1192 between New York and Atlanta.

As soon as we have more information pertinent to this emergency, then we will update the article accordingly.

Furthermore, what we do know is that it was serious enough to cause the squawk transmission.

For now, this remains a developing story pending additional developments to come from this.

UPDATE #1 @ 1429 UK time – @FlightEmergency on X reports that the aircraft was struck by lightning on approach.
